Given the slow down, overhead time and the current power of Script kiddies new cloud based hacking tools or even government supercomputer (Quantum?) based systems.

This depends entirely on how important the data is to you (and if it is not just your own I would say you would be ethically if not legally obligated to think it is important). I would hope you take the security of your server seriously but this is a question that only you can answer – there isn’t a single technical answer (other than pointing out that you can always improve security no matter how hardened it might seem). Of course, if you are limited to what encryption you can use, then that is another issue entirely (and instead you should use the strongest you’re able to use). Keep in mind that one breach leads to more breaches, so it is best if every service you have is hardened as best as can be (in whatever ways necessary).

In the end, just because there are risks doesn’t mean you shouldn’t bother protecting against them as best as you can. Ask yourself this: if your data was neglected (let’s say you have no choice but to give up your information), how would you feel?
