I would like to stop staff playing Pokemon Go on our network.

That sounds like a challenge. It looks as though the developers are distributing bandwidth across a lot of domains in many countries (often cloud services) because of their problems with server loading. That means traditional blacklisting of IP addresses on your firewall will require a lot of research and maintenance as new IP addresses and domains are used. There is a thread on REDDIT that is trying to accumulate IP addresses.

Perhaps someone will offer a subscription service to provide you with a blacklist! Sounds like a good business opportunity. ;>)

Simply block all traffic from pgorelease.nianticlabs.com. This is the server where the API that runs the game is located.

    Thanks, I’ll try first detecting that traffic to see what I find, if anything. Looks like it will also affect traffic for Ingress.
